The Encore produces a large, soft, green, cooking apple, stongly acidic in flavour. A scab resistant tree of moderate vigour, it has an upright-spreading habit. It is a good cropper with fruit to be picked in early/mid October and used December to April.

First recorded in 1906, raised by Charles Ross, Head Gardener at Welford Park, Newbury, Berkshire. Introduced by J Cheal of Crawley, Sussex.
