King of Tompkins County Apple Tree

The King of Tompkins County produces a large, red, dessert apple with a sweet flavour. A vigorous, scab resistant, spreading tree. Fruit to be picked mid October, and used November to March.

The king of Tompkins County apple tree is thought to have come from near Washington, Warren County, New Jersey, and taken to Tompkins County, New York by Jacob Wycoff in 1804, who called it King. It was renamed King of Tompkins County in 1855.
